And The Winner Is...

It's finally over. And after nearly season long domination and single ownership of first place, Sam has fallen. It took an incredible week 17 out of Chris to topple him, but it happened. I say incredible because in a week where no one else got above 10 wins, and half of us couldn't break .500, Chris pulled out 13 wins.

I factored in the effect of dropping everyone's worst week, but being that no one else was close enough to Sam/Chris to have a drop week affect the final standings, and they had identical drop weeks (5 wins), the standings remain.

Don't take any celebrating too personally Sam, it's just all us old folks feeling a LITTLE bit better that we didn't get beat by someone nearly a decade (or more) our junior. We get cranky like that. Besides, it could be worse, you could have concocted some hair brained scheme like picking all upsets, all the time, and fallen from a respectable middle of the pack to nearly dead last, like some of us...well, just me really. But still.

Drinks at Kettle have been proposed for the near future, so we'll figure out a date and get that going. Maybe I can find one of those giant novelty checks by that time. It was a fun pool, thanks to everyone for playing, and sorry I fell off in my duties towards the end. Somehow I was more distracted WITHOUT having to go to work than I was when I was still gainfully employed.

Happy new year, and best of luck to anyone who's still got a team in the playoffs. Unless you have to face the Skins, in which case, prepare to be stomped.
